Abstract

To observe the epithelial and connective tissue reattachment, the author had made the surgical pocket following gingival detachment in dogs.
The results of histological study were observed as follows.
1) The connective tissue reattachment of gingival tissue took place on tooth by a deposition of new cementum following the surgical destruction of alveolar bone crest section of periodontal membrane and curettage of cementum.
2) The resorption of dentin and cementum had occurred up in the healing process, new cementum was deposited on old cementum and dentin directly.
3) Connective tissue fibers were paralleled to the long axis of the root.
4) Epithelial down-growth (apical proliferation) would interrupt connective tissue attachment.
5) Some regeneration of alveolar bone was observed on the cutting edge of alveolar crest.
